Privacy Policy

Followship is a Christian community app for sharing testimonies, praying for one another and reading the Bible. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Followship. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.
- We collect what you give us to use Followship, and what the app needs to work and to fix crashes.
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- You choose who sees much of what you share, and you can delete your account at any time from Settings.
What we collect
Your account. Your name, username, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), the invite code you joined with, and your birth date. We use your birth date only to confirm you're 13 or older; it stays on your private account record and isn't shown on your profile.
Your profile. Anything you add: a photo, bio and church name.
What you share. Posts, testimonies, photos, videos and their captions; stories, praise reports and embers; comments, reactions (Like and Amen) and reposts; prayer requests and who prays for them; messages and group chats; reading plans and Bible reading progress; the music you attach (song details from Apple Music); bookmarks, connections and groups.
Safety and support. Reports you make, people you block, and feedback you send us.
Your device. A notification token if you turn on notifications, so we can send them to your phone. If the app crashes or hits an error, a report with technical details: your device model, operating system and app version, what the app was doing, and your account's ID (not your name or email).
Permissions you grant. The camera, microphone and photo library are used only when you choose to take or pick a photo or video to share. We don't collect your location or your contacts.
Who can see what you share
- Your profile, posts, testimonies, comments and stories can be seen by other signed-in Followship members.
- Prayer requests are visible to other members on the Prayer Wall.
- Embers are visible to the audience you choose when you share each one: anyone who visits your profile, only the people you pick, or only you.
- Messages are seen by the people in the conversation. They're protected in transit and on our servers, but they aren't end-to-end encrypted, so our authorized administrators could access them if needed for safety (for example, investigating a report).
- Reported content can be reviewed by our moderators.
How we use it
- To run Followship: your account, showing what you share to the people you share it with, notifications you've turned on, and the emails you need (confirming your email, resetting your password).
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our Community Guidelines, and stopping abuse.
- To fix and improve the app, using crash and error reports and the feedback you send.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
Services that help run Followship
We use a few trusted companies, each only for its part of the app:
- Supabase stores your account and everything you share, on servers in the United States.
- Resend delivers our emails, so it receives your email address.
- Sentry receives crash and error reports (described above).
- Expo and Apple deliver push notifications to your phone.
- Apple Music provides song search and the 30-second song previews played in the app. Your searches are sent to Apple without your name or account details.
- API.Bible and Crossway (ESV) provide Bible text. Only the passage being read is requested.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and forwards email sent to followship.app.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. Stories leave the Stories row after 24 hours; praise reports and embers stay at your Altar until you remove or delete them. When you delete something, it's removed from the app right away.
Deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account) permanently deletes your profile and everything you've shared, and the photos and videos you uploaded are removed from storage within 30 days. Records of moderation decisions may be kept without your name, to keep the community safe.
Your choices
- Edit your profile, and edit or delete what you've shared, at any time.
- Choose who sees your prayer requests and embers each time you share one.
- Turn notification types on or off in Settings → Notifications, or turn them off in your phone's settings.
- Block people, and report content or people that break our Community Guidelines.
- Delete your account from Settings. To ask for a copy of your information, or for anything else about your privacy, email hello@followship.app.
Children
Followship is for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Your information is protected in transit and on our servers, access to it is limited, and passwords are never stored in readable form. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use elsewhere.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
